Idaho Bird Observatory is a non-profit research unit of Boise State University. Our mission is to contribute to the conservation of western migratory landbirds through cooperative research and public education. In 1993, we discovered that the Boise Ridge, just a few miles from downtown Boise, supports one of the largest known raptor and songbird migrations in the western US during autumn. A long-term project has been established at Lucky Peak, the southernmost peak on the ridge, to annually count the number of migrating raptors during fall to provide reliable population trend information on western species. Long term raptor banding projects also have been established to identify migration routes, wintering areas, breeding areas, and mortality factors. In 1997, a long-term songbird monitoring project was initiated that consists of songbird mist netting and count surveying. In 1999, a standardized forest owl monitoring and banding project was initiated that targets Northern Saw-whet and Flammulated Owls. Since then, we have developed year-round research, education, and volunteer involvement programs centered around this remarkable natural phenomenon. High priority also is given to promoting public wildlife viewing, environmental education, and community volunteer programs. Also do most pet stores know when they are selling sick or deformed birds or is it something they miss at times?

Depends on what they have. Also how good pet store owners are.
Some treat, if it’s cure-able. But if the cure is more expenisive than the birds worth, most will people may put it to sleep. Hopefully, they’ll care enough to help the poor living thing.

Question by shelly102280: What is the best kind of paint to use on a bird cage?
I have already sanded the cage by hand and got any loose paint off because the paint was chipping off really bad. I have also wiped the cage down really well to remove any left over dust from sanding the cage. Now I am ready to paint the cage. I’ve looked at different sites to see what is recommended but it seems like they all say different things. I just need to know what is the best paint to use on the cage for a Meyers parrot. Thanks
