My stupid brother took a bird egg from its nest!!?
top bird sites top bird sites
I know i asked some questions before about an egg i found on the ground but turns out it was infertile, i cracked it open and it was only yolk… Anyways my stupd brother wanted to hatch his own bird so he climbed the tree a took an egg! Luckily the mother bird still came back to the nest but now i have to hatch this egg! My brother won’t let me put it back in the nest. So i know the bird is a european starling because i saw the mom. The egg is blue. When i candled it i could see veins and the air sac also i kinda saw the embryo. I put it on the carpet and made a nest out of my socks then i cut a hole in the top of a plastic container and put a lamp in it. I also put a small thing of water under the lamp to make it humid ( but im not sure if that will work…). I took the temperature with a thermometer and it said 41.3 degrees celcius. I turn the egg every hour.
I’ve checked some sites to learn how to care for it when it hatches but i have a few questions:
- No one is home half the day, every day exept the weekend so how do i keep turning it?
- Again, no one is home half the day so when it hatches how do i keep feeding it or if it hatches when no one is home what do i do?
- If im doing anything wrong or if i missed something please tell me, it would be a big help.
PUT THE EGG BACK..tell your brother he cannot take eggs from birds nest, if he takes the egg of a wild native bird he can be fined and jailed..it is against the law. I am sure your parents would not be real happy to have to pay hundreds of dollars when your brother is ticketed. The parents WILL still care for the egg if returned…although you may have killed it by now.
Your brother’s a retard.
Ignore that little retard and take that egg back.
She can’t take the egg back…the mother bird won’t lay on it.
What do you mean, he won’t let you put it back? How is that possible? That bird’s life is worth more than you obeying your brother like a pansy.
just do what your doing but put the whole set up in a box with worms (near the time its gonna hatch) so if it does hatch its got a snack and it cant run away
I didn’t even read all of your question, all you need to know is DON"T MESS WITH BIRDS. I used to chase seagulls at the beach when I was six. I have since been pecked on 3 separate occasions (and I don’t antagonize birds anymore). And I don’t hang around all lot of birds or anything, once was at Marine land, Just watching some whales and then BOOM vicious bird attack. And it doesn’t matter if you are trying to help the bird by returning its egg. Birds don’t know good intentions from bad. I also have a brother who likes to mess with baby birds. But he was preventing a newborn robin from hopping its way onto the road, and then BOOM two adult robins chase him from one side of the yard to the other. Don’t do anything to the birds, pretend you have no idea anything happened, and don’t make eye contact!
FIRST, the mother WILL take the egg back. When people say that the bird will smell you and not take the baby back is a TOTAL myth and birds have horrible senses of smells. Just put it back and tell your parents what your brother is doing. AND threaten to call the cops on him because it is actually illegal to keep a wild bird!!
Warm the egg up more.Make it very hot like 90 degrees or more so it can hatch and when it hatch give he apple sauce on tip of a stick or mix water with cat or dog food.
IT IS ILLEGAL TO FEED AND RAISE A WILD BIRD, AND FOR VERY GOOD REASONS.
Put the egg back into the nest where it belongs. You will not be able to incubate it because you cannot turn it every hour… you need to sleep…you need to go to school. The bird parents are perfectly capable of hatching this egg.
Even if you can hatch it, you still have about a month of raising a chick. You may be able to keep the poor thing alive, but you will not be able to teach it what it can eat in the wild and where to find that food. You can not teach it how to avoid predators and you can not teach it how to breed. You are condemning the bird to death if you don’t put this egg back.
