Candaba’s Ibon-Ebon Festival is held on the first weekend of February to show wildlife protection in a sustainable environment. The townsfolk began celebrating the peak season of migratory birds, with the opening of the Candaba Swamp Wildlife Reserve as a new tourist destination. Candaba also happens to be the top producer of duck eggs which are usually made into balut, itlog na maalat (salted eggs) and a gourmet specially called burong ebon. The festival itself features bird-watching tours and an agro-trade fair with side activities like boat-racing, kite-flying, duck races, itik-cooking contest and the search for the best-dressed itik. The Ibon-Ebon float laden with bird-like objects representing both the Candaba’s environmental concern and agricultural productivity – striking the balance of people’s needs and sustainability. Kite-makers, parol-makers and other Kapampangan artisans designed the float, which also shows a representation of ther patron saint – San Nicolas de Tolentino. Where can I find side-by-side parrot cages?

top bird sites top bird sites

I havea nanday conure and a senegal parrot who get along very well. I am looking for new cages for them and I want the side-by-side cages, like the one’s at Petco. I have seen a lot of stacked cages, one on top of the other, but I don’t think that this arrangement is beneficial to the long term mental health of either of my birds (the bottom bird feeling constantly submissive.) Anyway, does anyone know of any web sites or stores where I can find one, side by side, probably at least 60" wide (combined length of 2 cages) for two small parrots? I have done a search and I was unsuccessful.

I am trying to figure out a type of bird around my house. medium sized with long tail and beautiful songs?

top bird sites top bird sites

The bird is medium and appears to be mostly gray but when it flies it has white strips on its tail and wings. It spends most of the day going from my tv antenna to the lightning rod on my barn to a the top of my shrubs and my small trees and is always singing. It seems to have so many different songs and they are all beautiful. It just sings to me all day. I just love that bird, but I am having trouble figuring out what it is. I will keep looking but maybe you can help or know of a web site that would make it easier. I live in the country but more fields than woods. The closest woods it about 300 yards away. I have lots and lots of flowers and some small trees like plum and cherry. After I figure out what kind of bird it is, then I want to know how to keep it around. Thank you very much..
I think I figured it out. I believe it is a Northern Mocking Bird. Actually, the way it is described, it just has to be. I have read a lot of interesting information on it including things I can do to keep it happy at my place and maybe attract others. You can still respond with an answer or maybe a thought that might help with keeping it around. Thanks

Just an unusual bird… or a sign?

top bird sites top bird sites

Well first off, I live in Northern Las Vegas….

Well anyway, so late last night I was walking my dog. It was like 12:30 in the morning. Well we get to the park, and I was looking up at the sky. Suddenly, I was startled by this figure right over the roof top of a house right next to the park… I had no idea what it was at first.. and just watching a freaky episode of Fringe earlier, I was kind of freaked out. But then it came into good site and it was like a gift from heaven. Just purely breath-taking. It was this large, long beautiful, pure white bird of some sort. I can’t describe what it was though. It reminded me of a swan. But we’re talking about Las Vegas, in the middle of a desert…. So I wondered, what is it? Could it be some sort of sign from god, from heaven… who knows? It was cold last night too.. Really windy earlier, but when I was outside at that time, the wind really died down.

I’d love to hear some opinions about what the type of bird it might be, or if you think it was a sign, good or bad?

I just saw a large, red headed FL bird with a grey body. What is it?

top bird sites top bird sites

I live in Tampa, Florida near a lake and just saw four huge (over 3ft tall) grey birds with vibrant red heads. Each were in pairs of two about 1 mile apart from one another.

I couldn’t identify them on any of the local wildlife sites and was wondering what they are.

Recently, I’ve seen several of them, always in pairs. When I drove by them today (it was a very narrow street), one opened his wings and his head was about level with my 4-Runner’s window. They have long legs, an egret-ish body, and a straight beak. The body has varying shades of grey and near the top of their red heads, there is a tuft of feathers that sticks out like a cowlick.

Any ideas?
